The story starts in 1991 when he writes to the Soviet-American Penfriend Exchange (SAPE) as a 12-year-old boy. Through letters, telegrams, faxes, phone calls, email, texting, facetime and real-life meetings, the penpal and he had shared their lives together. However, he began recognizing his sexuality early on, and thus had to build inauthentic facades throughout his childhood to help provide acceptance. Breaking through the facades he built and ultimately shattering the final mask and coming out to his family, including his brother-like penpal. But would he be accepted once the final nesting doll of his authentic self was revealed?
